The Pfun Art Project

Born in the Columbia Basin of Washington state and raised in Eastern Washington and North Idaho, Ty Pfundheller, The Pfun Art Project, is a lifetime artist, musician and outdoor enthusiast, constantly seeking inspiration through recreating in the mountains, rivers and lakes of North Idaho with family and friends. Whether biking, hiking or camping in all seasons, or skiing in the winter, Ty always finds joy and peace in the outdoors.

From an early age, Pfundheller has found sanctuary and refuge in his art, first through drawing and painting at an early age and into high school. Art created a safe space during high school and led to Ty winning awards for his sketch works and watercolors.  Then, in his late teens, he dedicated a large part of his life to learn, write and perform music. This decision ultimately led to studying music at Washington State University and finishing a Music degree at Eastern Washington University with an emphasis in music composition.  Studying music at EWU led Ty to meet his future wife, a fellow musician.  Pfundheller spent many years growing and raising his family to love and appreciate music, art, and the outdoors as he does.

Having spent many years raising a family and supporting them off of his carpentry skills, Ty made the decision to go back to his roots and fully embrace being an artist.  The Pfun Art Project is a way for Ty to combine his music, all mediums of his artwork, and his passion for outdoor activities into one all-encompassing vocation. TPAP has a unique perspective in that Ty draws from all artistic avenues of his life as inspiration for his works.  The outdoors inspire his music, his music inspires his art, and his art inspires more projects, and so on.

Music is a huge part of Pfundheller’s life and a main inspiration as a visual artist. As a musician, Ty is obsessed with sound, patterns and rhythm. This obsession has led to the expression of cymatics and sacred geometry through his artwork in all mediums and a fascination with the endless variation of patterns and effects that can be expressed.  He is able to combine his carpentry skills with his artist’s precision and perspective to create truly one of a kind works.  TPAP has expanded his drawing style into large mixed media pieces, combining primarily wood, stain, acrylic paint and epoxy resin. The end product is a visually stunning and emotionally driven visual art piece that changes a room.

Art can inspire great change in the community.   It can heal, it can motivate, it can create moments to collaborate, find solutions, or start a conversation. Art can evoke emotions in you so extreme that it can leave an enduring impact on your soul and the souls of generations to come. Art, if nothing else, feels good to make and makes the world a little bit more beautiful and interesting to be in.  TPAP strives to inspire healing and growth in the community, motivation for the individual, and joy to our future generations.  The sentiment is stated best with a lyric from one of Ty’s original compositions: ‘With our gifts true beauty we give’.

Ty’s dream is to connect with the community, build relationships, inspire creative solutions for the betterment of humanity, collaborate with other artists and free thinkers and leave a lasting positive impact to the community and maybe even start a difficult, consequential conversation triggering a chain reaction of positive change.
